I just want to take a minute to thank all the soldiers who have put their lives in danger so we could have freedom. It's a wonderful gift and I know I am beyond grateful for it! My thanks also goes out to the families of the soldiers who wait anxiously at home. It must be hard and I'm so grateful for their sacrifice. It makes me think of Jesus and the sacrifice He made so we could be freed from our sins. There is no greater love than that.
Since it's Thursday and we haven't had one for a while, I was excited to do a writing prompt! But since it's a holiday, some of you may be super busy, totally fine! You can do this whenever you get time! :) Or maybe you'd rather not do it at all. That is also fine but sad, this is going to be a fun one! ;)
The rules are as follows:
1. Pick a prompt (word for word or situational)
2. Write for 15 minutes using said prompt.
3. Post your piece in the comments! (You may have to use two separate comments if there's a lot of words.
4. Tell your writerly friends about it!
5. Have fun and enjoy your Independence Day! :)
Prompt 1:
The street was full of flags.
Prompt 2:
You (doesnt have to be first person) are at a festival. (Fictional place or real, doesn't matter.) describe what you see, touch, smell, taste, and hear. What are you celebrating?
Good luck and have fun! :)
I love writing celebrations. :) This one is a scene from my WIP that I skipped ahead to!
ReplyDeleteRia gasped. Tonathe was a far cry from the small village she had pictured. Colors were screaming at her from every vantage point. Flags and decorations hung from every available structure. Flowers sat in every window, Ria could smell as well as see them. Their sweet odor wafted through the air mixing with the freshness of the air to create a dizzying effect. At the height of the day, people were milling about on the street. The first thing Ria noticed after entering the gates was it seemed as if they were celebrating something great. Girls danced and skipped through the streets in front of the travelers. The sounds of their giggles and the buzzing of the crowd was music to Ria's ears. She had missed the city so much. The people were lively. Ria could hear singers and vendors, their voices mounting above the buzz of the crowd. It was wonderful. The smell was intoxicating. Every food you could ever imagine was being sold somewhere on the street. The livelyness of the air caused Ria and the others to dash about the street in an excited manner. A dancing teenager brushed past Cooper with a grin on her face. Cooper flashed a smile at her. The girl giggled and blew a kiss. Cooper turned away, flushed. Ria laughed and nudged his arm.
"Let's get some ice cream!" She said. Her eyes sparkled. Her enthusiasm was infectious.
"Oh let's!" Said Sandor. He took Ria's arm and smiled at her. To Ria it seemed like the whole city got brighter. She did not notice Cooper's face fall. On their quest to find an ice cream stand, a woman stopped Ria.
"A bargain!" She said. She held an exquisite amethyst pendant. Ria gasped.
"It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen!" She exclaimed.
"We'll take it." Sandor told the woman. Ria turned toward him with a glint in her eyes.
"Really?" She asked.
Sandor smiled. "It doesn't even come close to your beauty but I think it will go nicely with the way your skin glows."
Ria blushed. She heard Cooper snort from a nearby stand but she chose to ignore him. If he really was jealous of Sandor, he didnt seem to want to try to win her back.
Which is just fine with me. She thought.
Sandor clasped the pendant around her neck. The metal was warm against her skin.
